Kathi, When I was in the Sunrisers I competed at Dietz every year they had the contest there. I live in Long Island and we have a house in Palenville so I have been going a fan for the last few years. It is a great stadium for drum corps and the Main Street down the road is a wonderful place to window shop or eat at one of the historical restaurants.

Jack - I have a slight passion for Diesing's - my boss lives in Kingston so Friday is Diesing's day. I also like Ugly Gus's over by Clinton Avenue, just next to the county building. Keep in touch about Dietz Kathi

So where is Dietz Stadium? Vinny Greco would love to take his kids somewhere "local" to see Drum Corps as we know and love it in action! Is it a Senior or Junior competition? (Not that it really matters--the blood will still boil at the sounds!) Please fill me in--thanks!

Eileen, They're are many contests coming up locally. Dietz Stadium is a Senior Contest in Kingston, 2 hr. drive upstate. Closer though are on July 22, Junior Contest at Giants Stadium featuring 5 of the top 12 junior corps in the country, also there are Senior corps contests on july 17th at Clifton NJ High School and on July 24 in New Brunswick, NJ. For those of you who want to make a weekend of it, the Senior corps championships are held every Labor Day in Scranton PA. For more drum corps schedules of upcoming shows go to www.drumcorpsinternational.org or www.drumcorpsassociates.com

Thanks Jackie! Maybe I'll finally take the kids so they can see in person what makes the blood boil in all Drum Corps nuts when we hear those wonderful sounds!

Eileen - If you decide to take a trip to Dietz - let me know. I'll be there with my friend Tre - she used to be in Drum Corps in Poughkeepsie.
It is an easy ride up the thruway to the Kingston exit - follow the circle to Washington Avenue and hang a quick left at the first light- Dietz is in front of you. There is a Holiday Inn just down the road and I forget the name of the hotel by Central Hudson - only drive through there once a month but I'm usually more interested in the RV's. I know they have Roudigan's Steak House in the hotel/motel. It is only about a 2 hour dirve from Queens but after a night of excitement you may want to sleep over and leave fresh in the morning - or you might want to visit some of the historic sites of Kingston. Either way let me know if you plan to come up. The competition is on 8-14 ( if that is the Saturday) and I leave on 8-16 for Maine. Kathi

Hi everyone! I just found this message board! I'm not sure if you guys remember me, but cadets has always been a great memory for me and my sisters -- Teri, Andrea, Bernadette and Lynn. We were all Cadets. I LOVED Mr. Strucek!! I thought he was the greatest -- he always used to pick me up and carry me around!! (I was a lot smaller then).
If there is a reunion, please let me know. I'll try to get all of my sisters to attend.

Hi Faith! So glad you found this site! How could we forget you and your sisters? All those blondes!
I've run into Teri several times over the years and each time have misplaced her telephone number! Saw her last about two years ago. Is she still teaching at Christ the King? Please give her, and all your sisters, my regards!
Thanks for your kind comment about Dad--wish he was still here to see us all! He always enjoyed a celebration! Who remembers going to the Cadillac Terrace after we won the CYO? He was so proud and happy! I remember he had Eddie bring home the empty glasses! It was one of the few times I think my Mom wished she knew how to drive!
Be sure to come back to this site for updates regarding the Cadet Reunion--and get your sisters and anyone else you might still be in touch with that was a Cadet to register as a Member so we can contact them be e-mail. Thanks! Be well!

Hi Eileen!
Yes, Teri is still working at Christ the King. She teaches Science there.
I've spoken to my sisters about the reunion and they'd like to attend also.
Cadets was such a big part of my life -- I still have my fife and take it out once in awhile -- and still can play some of the tunes!! I guess it's like riding a bike......
I always tell my kids that I wish Cadets was still around so they could participate.
I'll keep checking for updates!
